BUCKLE UP ADDIS!

As the countdown to the date of the implementation comes to an end tomorrow, December 21, 2009, the ambiance in Addis Abeba is electric as the new traffic regulations are ushered in. The streets are abuzz with commotion to acquire mobile phone accessories, though the law forbids anytype of phone use while operating any vehicle. Seatbelts, too, are in high demand as the city hosts a large number of automobiles that go without. Drivers never seemed to care to maintain or even keep their safety belts. Addis Abeba buckles up under the shadow of old habits of road indiscipline dying hard.
